

Virginia F. Witte, of Lenexa, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Menorah Medical Center after a series of illnesses. Virginia was born in Kansas City at the old St. Joseph Hospital. She was a graduate of Southwest High School and the University of Missouri - Columbia. Virginia was a long time sister of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Virginia gave to her community through her activities in many clubs and charities. She retired from Hallmark several years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen J. Witte. Over the years, they enjoyed many happy times together and traveling. During their trips they visited every continent around the world. Virginia was survived by her son, Robert W. Butcher, Platte City, Missouri. Her youngest son, John Van Butcher, and his wife, Yvonne Butcher, and her two grandsons, John Van Butcher, Jr. and William Breschar Butcher, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her brothers and sisters-in-law Leonard and Cletis Witte, Kirkwood, Missouri , and Zita and Tom Pojeta, Alexandria, Virginia. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
