Walter Eugene Darby was born on September 22, 1931. He passed away January 17, 2024 at Saint Luke’s Hospice House at the age of 92. He lived in Lee’s Summit, MO with his wife Bonnie Jean Darby of 72 years. Walter was preceded in death by his two sons, Gary Lee and Coy Douglas Darby and daughter, Dawn Marie Darby. He is survived by his 7 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He served in the Marine Corps and then later worked for General Motors until retiring at the age of 55. He marshaled at Sham Rock Golf Course for many years because he enjoyed golf and the outdoors so much. He also had a garden every year for fresh vegetables. He enjoyed doing yard work and tending to his garden.
A visitation for Walter will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133. A graveside service will occur Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 3:15 PM at Floral Hills East Mem Gardens, 25203 E US HIGHWAY 50, LEES SUMMIT, MO 64086.
