Wayne R. Stallard, 92 of Mission, Ks died December 6, 2018 at KU Medical Center. A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Old Mission United Methodist Church. Private family burial.
Wayne was the third child and second son of Clarence and Nora (Herd) Stallard, born November 17, 1926 in Lawrence, KS.
In Lawrence, Kansas, he graduated from Liberty Memorial High School and the University of Kansas, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta social fraternity. Wayne served in the US Army Air Corps, but his commission was in the US Air Force. He was a Mason and an Abdallah Shriner. Wayne had three careers. He worked first as a CPA with Haskins & Sells, then as an executive of manufacturers of utility and construction equipment and product, and lastly as a consultant. He was a director of more than twenty companies, both inside and outside those industries, including a bank. He was an avid reader and collector of books, and loved to play bridge and tennis. He was a member of the Kansas City Club and the Carriage Club for more than fifty years. He was a Rotarian, joining Club 13 in 1966, later Club 1776, and Club 13 again in 2007. He loved good food, good wine, and good company. He traveled extensively to all but the polar continents.
He married Florence Anne (Peach) Schutte on September 6, 1952, who preceded him in death in 2004. In addition, he is predeceased by his parents, his sister Nadine, his brother Glenn. He is survived by their three daughters Rebecca Hilger, North Oaks, MN, Melanie Stallard, Mission, KS, and Jennifer Stallard, Navarre, FL, grandson Ryan Hilger, his wife Heather, granddaughter Laura Hilger, great granddaughter Charlotte Hilger, and great grandson Henry Hilger. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, brother, Carl Stallard and sister-in-law Shirley Stallard.
At Old Mission United Methodist Church, Wayne chaired multiple committees and led the acquisition of the Mission Road properties. He was a long time member of the First Raiters Sunday School Class and its successors, as well as the Saturday Morning Prayer Group.
