Wendell L. Smith, 79, passed away September 3, 2014 in Lee’s Summit, MO. Memorial Service at 11am on Saturday, September 6th at the Church of Christ, 17601 Holke Rd., Indep., MO 64057 with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment in Mound Grove Cemetery.
Wendell was born July 4, 1935 in Independence, MO to Uel & Dorothy (Christenson) Smith. He was a US Army Veteran & served for 20 plus years as a Reserve Officer for the Independence MO Police Department. Wendell was employed for 40 years at Harold Publishing House as a Printer.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents & is survived by his children, Kathy Swearngin, Bill Burkhart, Randall Wheeler & Jim Smith; 10 grandchildren, Kim Brantner, Joey Swearngin, Christopher Burkhart, Melissa Stanley, Jacob Blair, Ann Elizabeth Smith, Tristian Smith, Joshua LaRusch Wheeler, JoAnne LaRusch, & Jenna Sarcione and 7 great grandchildren, Dayton Swearngin, Miles Swearngin, Makenzie Brantner, Joshua LaRusch Jr., Isiah LaRusch & Mariyah LaRusch.
