Willa D. Barr, age 85, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013, with her family by her side. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m., at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Rd. on Saturday, October 26 at 10:00 a.m. with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery immediately following. Willa was born and raised on a farm in Northern Missouri. Upon graduating from Newtown High School in 1945, she attended Chillicothe Business College. It was there she met her future husband, William H. Barr. The couple moved to Kansas City to begin their careers and start their family. She was preceded in death by her parents Cliff and Hildred Michael and her brother Rex Michael. Willa is survived by her husband of 66 years, William Barr; her three children Clifford Barr (Mary), W. Kent Barr and Michele O’Rourke; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with another one on the way. Willa enjoyed cooking, gardening, shopping, square dancing, and traveling with her husband. She was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be missed dearly. The family wishes to thank North Kansas City Hospital for the special care and love she received. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to NorthCare Hospice.

I am so sad . I loved the whole Barr family. Mrs Barr was so generous letting me tag along to the lake and spending many summer days at their home. Michelle I am so sorry. Wish I could have attended the services. Love Ellen Sterner Sedeno
