William Eugene Becker, lovingly known as Bill, passed away peacefully at his home in Gladstone, Missouri, on October 31, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on July 20, 1948, Bill was the eldest of five children and a proud 1966 graduate of St. Pius X High School.
Bill was known for his quiet strength, gentle heart, and dry wit. Hardworking, honest, and endlessly loyal, he lived his life with humility and grace. A man of steadfast character, Bill spent his entire 42-year career in accounting clerking with BNSF Railroad in North Kansas City, Missouri—rarely missing a day of work and remaining devoted to the same company throughout his life.
He had a craftsman’s touch and an instinctive understanding of how things worked. If something was broken, Bill could fix it. On countless Christmas Eves, he stayed up late assembling the more complicated toys, bikes, and dollhouses, etc. for his nieces and nephews, making sure every present was done in time.
Bill’s love for his family ran deep. Known affectionately as Brother, Bro, Billy B, or Uncle Bill, he was the family’s cornerstone—steady, generous, and kind. He led quietly, grounding those around him with his calm presence. Though he was careful with money, he was always the first to help when anyone was in need. His nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews were the pride and joy of his life. He celebrated every milestone, offered patient guidance, and was always their biggest fan.
Bill also loved a good laugh, good food, and good company. He cherished family dinners—especially his mom’s and sisters’ cooking—and often served as Brenda’s faithful sous chef. “Bill made the meatballs!” (He was best at his role of taste tester though :)).
In his free time, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting clay pigeons with his nephews, and playing darts, pool, and shuffleboard. He was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and Mizzou—though he wasn’t shy about voicing his opinions when the officiating got questionable! He enjoyed evenings with friends at his favorite “Cheers-like” spot, Dugans, and later in life became a master of online auctions—often finding treasures, (both needed and not) for friends and family on DealDash.
Bill was a man who didn’t seek attention but drew people in effortlessly. He avoided drama, valued sincerity, and was known for lending a hand quietly, without ever expecting recognition. Bill was the most soft-spoken of his siblings, but his words carried weight, and his easy & ever-present grin brightened every room.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard “Woody” and Rita Holthaus Becker, and his sister, Brenda Becker Grego. He is survived by his sisters, Pamela Becker and Nancy (Chuck) Calvert; his brother, Robert (Stacey) Becker; his nephews, Mark Grego, Jeff Grego, Chad Madrid, Chase Calvert, Luke Becker, and Ben Becker; and his nieces, Jennifer (Calvert) Latier and Brett (Becker) Shupe. He also leaves behind many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to nurse Katie, aide Cheryl with Residential Hospice, and family friend Jane Ray for their compassionate care—and a special thank you to his sister Pam for her loving devotion to Bill.
True to his humble nature, Bill requested that there be no formal ceremony. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him—a sweet soul, and most awesome man.
