

William (Bill) Howard Best Jr., of Chamois, Missouri passed away November 8th, 2020 at General Baptist Nursing Home in Linn Missouri. There will be a Graveside service Saturday, November 14th at 2pm at Floral Hills Chapel. Visitation will be an hour prior. Memorial contributions may be made in William's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
William Best Jr. was born October 6th, 1933 in Kansas City Kansas. He was the oldest of 3 sons. He married Alma Jeanne Best, October 7th, 1956 at Napoleon Methodist Church. They have one son and one daughter. He and his wife were foster parents for eighteen years. He worked at Sears for twenty-one years before becoming a High School Distribution Education Teacher. He was a member of the Episcopal church. He served as an Alderman in Grain Valley. He was on the Mo. Motor Vehicle Commission and the Osage County Emergency Management Commission. Teacher of the Year in 1979 at Hickman Mills High School in Kansas City Missouri. He owned over 300 automobiles in his adulthood. Traveled throughout Europe. Became an avid oil painter, in his later years he tended to raising cows. William was an avid reader and had read thousands of books.
He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Best Sr., mother, Mary Francis Best (Nichols), brother, Richard D. Best Sr., brother, John Samuel Best Sr.
William is survived by his wife, Alma Jeanne Best. Son William Dean Whippo (Shelia), Daughter Christine Rickey (Jeffrey), Grandchildren, Amanda, Tom, Rocky, Chelsey, Rachael, Billy, Shelby, Zachary, Matthew, Ashlee, Ivy and Maximus. Great-grandkids, Donavan, Hunter, Harper, Chase, Tom and Mason. As well as numerous Nephews and Nieces.
