Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Heartland Community Church, 12175 S. Strang Line Road, Olathe, Kansas 66062. One of Bill's greatest joys was being a host and gathering with friends to talk, laugh and share a beer. In his honor, we are getting together at Granite City after the service to raise a glass and reminisce. The family would love to have you join us. (15085 W 119th St, Olathe)
Bill was born on September 26, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the son of Clyde and Margaret (Weiss) Medley. He graduated from High School in Grosse Point, Michigan and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Eastern Michigan University. He continued his education at University of Michigan where he earned his Masters in Education.
Bill taught High School Biology and Coached Hockey at Lakeview High School in St. Claire Shores, Michigan. He was a natural teacher, later sales trainer, and enjoyed being a mentor and “coach” all his life. Bill’s (Christian) values and faith were instilled in him as a child, and were important to him always.
In 1961 through mutual friends, he met Peggy McKibbin and they were married one year later in Greenville, Michigan. They started their family and had five wonderful children, all born in Detroit. Bill, Peggy, and family also lived in Walnut Creek, CA; Overland Park, KS; and White Bear Lake, MN, until retirement brought them back to KC area where most of their children remained.
In his spare time Bill loved spending time with his family, golfing with his friends, playing hockey and reading. He was gifted with his hands and enjoyed remodeling projects and wood working. His kids, in-laws, and grandchildren have too many fond memories to list, but are grateful for a lifetime of treasured memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his only and beloved brother, Jack Medley. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Medley, children, Molly Fisher and husband Steve, Jill Tuschhoff and husband Bruce, Anne Medley and husband Craig Buckley, Bill Medley and Mark Medley, grandchildren, Bruce Tuschhoff, Ryan Tuschhoff, Alicia Fisher, Michael Tuschhoff, Haley (Fisher) Casey and her husband Ray and Jack Fisher.
