Bill started a small painting business in 1962 and he built up J B Decorating & Restoration to become a thriving business. Upon retirement in 2003, his son, David Edmonsond, took over.
Survived by his wife: Janet Edmonsond; three boys: Don, Steve, and David Edmonsond; three stepdaughters: Andrea, Allison, and Jennifer; two brothers, Mike and Rick; 15 grandchildren: Adam and Stacey Edmonsond; Talon Edmonsond; Andy and Robin Mallinson (Conner); Halleck, Alyx, Tiara, Ethan, Calvin, and Brayden Bilyeu; Lili and Marley Heaman; and Miles and Summer Boita; and four great-grandchildren: Maggie & Marci, Blaine & Ema, and Persephone.
Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna; second wife, Pam; parents William and Gladys; and three of his five brothers John, Bobby, and Jim.
Bill loved life! From dirt biking with his boys, fishing and boating at the Lake of the Ozarks, snow skiing in the mountains of CO, to camping, hiking, to finally, RV-ing with friends, post-retirement. Bill and Jan married when Bill's boys were 18, 21, and 24, and Jan's girls were 11, 5, and 5. He raised three boys, while also fostering children, and then raised those girls of Jan's up as his own. Bill never met a stranger. He would strike up a conversation with anyone winning them over with his broad, friendly smile and twinkling eyes. Bill was a Believer and was Deacon and an Elder at his church, the Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Hill, MO. Bill and Jan moved to Eugene, Oregon in 2011.
Bill built four beautiful homes. Donna and Bill had a lot and a houseboat at the Lake of the Ozarks and together began building a second home there. She passed before the home was finished. After her passing, it was a dark time. But, Bill picked himself up, dusted himself off, and, as a single father of an elementary-age child, a junior high student, and a high-schooler, he and the boys finished building that second home at the Lake of the Ozarks, so they could spread out from staying in the houseboat. He later built a 4300 sq ft home on 10 acres outside Pleasant Hill with a large, stone fireplace and big open rooms full of light. Together with his wife Janet, in 1987, he purchased and restored a 1926 Southern Colonial to its original state in Pleasant Hill, MO. The last home was built after retirement, out away from the city, in Kingsville, MO. Bill was the person who picked out the tallest Christmas tree on the lot to go along with the largest lighted, Merry Christmas sign on the street and welcomed everybody in!
