

William G. (Bill) Flora, 93, passed away peacefully on January 19th, 2017, in Overland Park, KS. Bill was born March 12th, 1923, in Neeleyville, MO, and grew up in the St. Louis area. Serving in the Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II, Bill later attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he received his law degree. After his marriage to Anna Jo Farrell, he moved to Kansas City, where he practiced law for more than 50 years, first in Downtown Kansas City, MO, and later in Independence, MO.
Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. He was a member of Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church. Bill valued education, conservative social issues, and the engineering behind most every automobile. He was a loyal Royals and Chiefs fan, and always held hope for their success. Grandpa is remembered most fondly for his love of all animals, his intense intellectual curiosity, his collection of “stuff”, and his unfailing sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Anna Jo, in 2010. He is survived by two sisters: Margaret Micka and Ruth Ann Zimmerman of Bradenton, FL; children: Bill Flora of Parkville, MO, David Flora of Overland Park, KS, and Terry Culbertson Norris of Overland Park; seven grandchildren: Will Flora of Dallas, TX, Shelby Flora of Chicago, IL, Taylor Flora of Kansas City, MO, Sollie Flora of Mission, KS, Katie Janes of Kansas City, MO, Annie Carolla of Dallas, and Chris Culbertson of Overland Park; and five great-grandchildre: Christian Flora of Dallas, Kyra and Isabel Janes of Kansas City, MO, and Carson and Parker Carolla of Dallas.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23rd, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, followed by burial with military honors.
