William N. “Chip” Hecht, Jr., 60, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at home on June 7, 2011, after a brief illness with cancer. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7500 Oak, Kansas City, Missouri 64114. Interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Chip was born September 25, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of William N., Sr. and Lila L. (Tetzlaff) Hecht. He was a lifetime member of Calvary Lutheran Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired from the KC Fire Dept. Station #28 and had also worked for Safeway on Wornall. He was a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed traveling and was a sports enthusiast. Chip’s passion was baseball where you could frequently find him at a Royals baseball game. He enjoyed collecting and trading sports memorabilia. He is survived by his sisters Pam Groom and husband Lonnie of Kansas City, Missouri and Mary Ann Schwarz and husband Greg of Blue Springs, Missouri; niece Loren Groom; nephews Mitch and Cole Schwarz; extended family and friends.
