William Hopkins Lytle

William "Bill" H. Lytle was called home by his savior Jesus Christ June 1, 2018.

Bill was the son of Harold and Birney Lytle who preceded him in death. A sister, Shirley Lee (Lytle) Capps and her husband Norman E. Capps also preceded him in death.

Bill attended the University of Kansas; Wheaton College and was a graduate of Northwestern University.

Bill is a 13th generation descendent of Stephen Hopkins of the Mayflower. Bill's entire career of 66 years was in broadcasting beginning in 1950. He worked for various radio and television in the Midwest including Mason City, Iowa; Centralia IL; Springfield, IL; Moberly, MO; Sedalia, MO; St. Joseph, MO; and Kansas City, MO.

He retired from KMBZ radio in 1984 and became a Media Broker joining Chapman Associates. Later in 1990, he became a founding partner of Media Services Group. He negotiated the sale of numerous radio stations throughout the country. Bill was fond of saying he never worked a day in his life because his career in broadcasting was a source of joy. In the early part of his career as a radio announcer, Bill was the first broadcaster on the scene at the West Frankfort IL mine disaster in 1951. In 1952, Bill joined the NBC News Team in Springfield, IL, with Radio and Television coverage of the Eisenhower-Stevenson presidential election.

Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy Lytle of the home; sons: Michael, Stephen and Phillip Lytle and Stephen Sipe; daughters: Catherine Spencer, Christina Stephens and Carol Pileggi. Another daughter, Cynthia Harte preceded him in death. Also surviving is a cousin William O. Lytle; Nieces: Linda Stephenson & Leane Capps; 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, June 19 at the Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, 9300 Nall in Overland Park, Kansas. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church or the Williams Education Fund, University of Kansas, 1651 Naismith Dr., Lawrence, Kansas 66045.
