William "Bill" Charles Schlichter

Schlichter William ‘Bill” Charles Schlichter, age 90, of Independence, Mo. passed away on Thursday October 3, 2019 at his home. Bill was born on February 9, 1929, in Topeka, Kansas to Harry and Verena (Stickel) Schlichter. He married Helen L. Bouton on August 6, 1950 at the United Presbyterian Church in Topeka, Kansas. He was stationed in Korea and served in the U.S Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Corporal. He was a member of the Masonic Temple Lodge 76 of Independence, MO. Bill was employed as a Civil Engineer for the City Governments of Kansas City for 27 years and Blue Springs for 17 years. He and Helen travelled all over the United States covering all except seven states, and throughout several other countries over their years together. He is survived by his wife of 69 years: Helen, Daughters: Pam (Husband: Allen) Troxel of Kansas City, Mo., Becky (Husband: Ed) Gist of Blue Springs, Mo., and Alise (Husband: Randy) Sunderman of Ankeny, Iowa. Two Grandsons: Aaron and Jeff Sunderman of Ankeny, Iowa. Visitation will be Saturday October 19, 2019 at 11 AM with Memorial Service and Masonic Rites at 12:00 pm followed by Committal and Military Honors at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd. Kansas City, Missouri 64133.
