

Leaving behind a rich legacy of service, dedication, and love. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Janet Sue Taylor, who passed away in 2023.
William was born with an innate drive for excellence and compassion. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1961 with a B.S. in Business Administration. During his college years, he was an active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, building enduring friendships and leadership skills.
After graduation, William served his country honorably in the military from 1961 to 1967. Following his service, he embarked on a successful business career. In 1970, he founded Pizza Hut of Arizona, marking the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey. His career path took him to Kansas City in 1968 when he joined Coca-Cola, a move that would set the stage for numerous future ventures.
William’s business acumen was evident in his ownership of Truman Bank and his respected career as a stock and bond broker. His entrepreneurial spirit led to the creation and successful sale of many businesses in the Kansas City area, establishing him as a significant figure in the local business community.
Beyond his professional life, William was deeply committed to his community. He was the first chairman of the Tom Watson Children’s Mercy Hospital Golf Tournament at Blue Hills Country Club, where he was also a cherished member. His philanthropic efforts and leadership in this role left a lasting impact on the community.
William’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his sons, Billy Taylor (wife Katherine) and John Taylor (wife Christina), and his grandchildren, Landen and Charlotte. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he treasured the time spent with them.
William R. Taylor will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his entrepreneurial spirit, and his significant contributions to his community. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the businesses he built.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit and legacy will endure forever.
A Celebration of Life for Bill and Janet Sue Taylor will be held on Friday, July 19th, 2024 from 5:00 PM through 8:30 PM in the Ballroom at Blue Hills Country Club located at 777 West Burning Tree Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64145.
