Willie Walter Winzer was born in Arcadia, Louisiana to Exie and Gus Winzer. He grew up the middle child of four brothers and five sisters. Willie graduated from High School in Arcadia, LA, two years earlier with his twin sisters Alberta and Roberta. Apparently since his sisters weren't in his kindergarten class he wasn't staying there! Every time they put him back in his classroom they would look up to see him gone, and he would be back in class with his sisters. So.... they let him stay! and he graduated early entirely of his own will. Willie moved to Kansas City, MO, in or around the late 50's and started work in the restaurant industry. He didn't stay long with odd jobs, as he found his career with the KC Southern Railroad where he worked for 30 years until he retired. He loved spending time with family and friends. Especially gathering to watch the NFL Champions the Kansas City Chiefs, whenever they played on TV. Walt just loved LIFE!
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Exie and Gus Winzer; his brother, Willie Henry Winzer; and sister, Fannie West; and his first wife Everjean Winzer.
Willie leaves behind many to cherish his memory, and is survived by his domestic partner, Cheryl K Ashley; his children, Philip Winzer, Victor Winzer, Joseph Winzer, Michelle Ashely, and Ashley Washington; his brothers, Larry Winzer, John Matt Winzer, Ezra Pharrell; his sisters, Elvie Miller, Roberta Winzer, Alberta Frazier, and Sandra Whitaker; his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a whole host of family and friends who will forever have great memories to cherish of Paw-Paw.
