
Wilma Jean Dickey, age 92, went happily to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 AM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the funeral home with burial following in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to River Blvd. Baptist Church. She was a lady who excelled in being a seamstress, musician and artist. She started playing the piano at the age of five and began playing for her church at the age of 12. In her early years she bought an accordion and taught herself to play by looking in a mirror. She later learned to play the organ and became the organist for her church up to the time of her passing. Her first job was working in an art studio restoring portraits by air brushing. She later used her talent to decorate cakes and became a caterer for 17 years. She enjoyed painting with watercolors and oils. In 1970 she joined the Independence Art Association and as a member won 31 various awards. By 1972 she began teaching China painting classes and in 1973 joined the China Painting Club. Wilma was ordained as a deaconess in 1986. She was a dedicated Christian for all her life and served faithfully in many positions for her church. She always had a kind word for people and helped anyone who asked. She was a genuine prayer warrior and a powerful witness to all she came in contact with. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and her husband. She will be greatly missed by her children: Larry (Theresa) Lyday, Glenna (Charles) West and Michael (Diana) Dickey; her nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
