

He leaves his wife of 59 years, Faye Zacharias; his four children: Joe Zacharias and wife Rhonda, Bill Zacharias and wife Jeanine, Lorie Zacharias-Verdi and husband Tom, Sherie Bartlett and husband Tom; and sister-in-law Evelynn Zacharias. He influenced and enjoyed the company of 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout his lifetime. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Eleanor Zacharias, his brother Leonard Zacharias, sister Corrine Osterman and great granddaughter Hannah Grace Bartlett.
Bud worked at Kansas City Power and Light for 36 years in customer service and reached the rank of Sr. Master Sergeant in the Air Force. He served 5 years in active duty including a 2 year tour in Okinawa during the Korean War and continued in the Air Force Reserves for 33 years.
After his so called retirement Bud worked for DataSource Inc., a company founded by his daughter Sherie and son-in-law Tom Bartlett for over 10 years. He was an active member in the American Legion, a member of St. Paul’s Methodist church and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Bud was a gentle soul, who never met a stranger and was always interested in where someone was from, what high school they went to and anything else they would tell.
He will be missed but never forgotten.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO, 64131 on Thursday, November 12th, from 11:00 am-1:00 pm, with the funeral service at 1:00 pm followed by the burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital, 2401 Gillham Road, Kansas City, MO 64108, in memory of Hannah Grace Bartlett.
