Wiss was in Ray Carolyn's group at 17th and McGee when I joined Puritan Equipment in the 1962 timeframe.  His dedication was very important to the overall success of our small group. 

I regret that I was out of town and therefore unable to attend his memorial.

Bill & I are the same age, and lived on the same block during our teen years, and he introduced me to the fine art of building & flying model airplanes. I am still active in that hobby, and remain indebted to him for years of pleasure.  My wife Marilyn lived in the same apartment building as Bill.  We both send our condolences.

I worked with "Wiss" at Puritan-Bennett from 1986 to 1991.  I had the opportunity to be his manager and found him to be an excellent worker, and highly committed to the company.  You don't find many with those qualities anymore.  May you find comfort in your loss of truly and exceptional person.  It was a great pleasure to have known him.

Wiss was such a stalwart in our organization, the Western Missouri Shooters Alliance. We will all miss him. I always appreciated his strong principles & dignity. Our loss pales in comparison to the family's, and we will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

So, Sorry to hear of Wiss passing, as he was always a welcome member of Missouri Valley Arms Collector Association (MVACA). His hospitalization was mentioned at this Tuesday night meeting, and it was truly sad to hear of his passing.

I worked many years with Wiss - it was my first job out of college.  He was tough, but fair, and I learned a lot from him. He was dedicated and made me understand how important the quality of a mans work was, becuase it was a direct representation of who you were.  He never let anything go he wasn't 100% satisfied with.

Over the years there were a lot of wonderful stories - let me share this one. In the early 80's when visited by Airbus management our managers liked to take a couple other team members along on the evening dinners to socialize.  Unfortunately since the engineering manager at the time was also German those individuals spent most of the night listing to conversations that they did not understand.   On one such occasion Wiss and Alan Kidd went along with Mr. Richter and the representative from Airbus.  During dinner as they were setting listing to the conversation another uninvited guest joined them.  A fly!  Mr. Richter and his guest were unaware of this , but Wiss and Alan were mesmerized as it kept buzzing the table and landing on the water glasses.  Wiss being one never to back down on a challenge was sure that with his “lightning” reflexes swing his hand over the glass and capture the flay in one quick motion.    Wiss's aim was “a little” off and in one great swipe of his arm he struck the glass throwing it and all off it's contents onto the unsuspecting guest from Airbus.   Since they were unaware of the fly it looked like Wiss had actually thrown the glass of water on their guest.   It took a while to calm down the gentleman from Airbus and clean up the mess, but in the end everything went back to normal and the conversation went on.  At this moment wouldn't you know it the fly returned and landed on Wiss's glass……. Alan leaned over and whispered to him “go for it!”   Wiss you will be missed.

Dear Mary, Mattea, Hannah and family, we wish you peace during this difficult time.  I'll never forget your father's kindness in taking my wedding pictures.  He was a good photographer and a kind man.
