He was preceded in death by his parents, by his brothers, Willard, Holloway, Wesley, and Bill, and by sisters Delfa Galluci, JoAnn Frazier, Louise Young, and Lois Bowen.
Woodie was such a special man. Everyone loved Woodie. He was outgoing, with a great sense of humor and a joke always at the ready. He was a generous, compassionate and loving man. Woodie was a spiritual man and a Baptist by faith.
Woodie loved playing softball. He was an excellent player and played on various teams over his lifetime, and at age 67 received the game ball when he pitched a shut-out. Also, as everyone knew, he loved his 12-acre get-a-way, “Briezy Point”, in Kansas high on the hill overlooking Sugar Valley. He loved the wildlife and peace and serenity. For 25 years prior to his retirement, he owned his own business “Epoxy Experts”, but above any of his loves and passions was his love for his family.
Woodie is survived by his heart and soul and love of his life, his beloved wife of 37 years, Dinah. He is survived by his children from his first marriage to Anna Marie, daughters Roxanne (John) LeGrotte and Dawn (Rick) Gregory, and by sons Mark and Brian (Linda) Sandridge. He is also survived by his brother, Eddie (Rosemary) Sandridge, and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He held the exalted title of “Papa”, and is survived by the grandchildren he loved and adored: Brett (Ruth) and Carl (Katie) Gregory, Nick, Austin, Brie Sandridge, Vince LeGrotte, Kristi Sandridge and very special great grandchildren, Hazel and Taben.
