

Ygnacio “Junior” Santellan, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Visitation 6-8pm Mon., Aug. 10, 2015 at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel with Rosary recited at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial 10am Tues., Aug. 11, 2015 at Nativity of Mary Church, 10010 E. 40HWY, Indep., with burial following in Brooking Cemetery in Raytown.
Junior was born on May 1, 1951, to Ygnacio and Marcella Santellan. He was a graduate of the East High School class of 1969. He worked at Armco Steel for 31 years and was employed at Penn Valley Community College. Junior was an avid sports fan and through his love for basketball, he coached and mentored numerous youths. His principles were simple; teamwork, fundamentals & respect, both on and off the court.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gloria (Villanueva); daughters, Stephanie Santellan & Magdalen Santellan; grandson, Brendan Santellan; brother, Candido Santellan; sisters, Margarita (Bill) Sullivan & Delores Santellan. He also leaves behind his beloved extended family, Elias “Leo” & Frances Villanueva, Pilar “Sissy” & Alan Smith, Theresa & Joe Kelsey, and Maria “Lisa” & Michael Smiddy; many nieces, nephews & numerous friends.
