Zoanne Thatcher, 80, of Independence, MO passed away on June 29, 2011. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 12-1pm at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel. Graveside service to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery at 1:30pm. Zoanne was born on January 4, 1931 in Independence, MO to Hugh & Zola McVay. Zoanne went to Benton Elementary School & graduated in 1948 from Paseo High School. She continued her education at Sarachon Hooley Business School. Zoanne married James Franklin Thatcher who preceded her in death in 1987. Together they raised registered Fox Hounds and were Charter members of the Grand Royal Fox Hound Club. She was a member of the MO State Fox Hound Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 21 and has been a Charter member of the Oxford Class of Paseo Methodist Church since 1940. Zoanne retired in 1991 after 25 years of service with Sears working in their credit department. Zoanne is survived by her nieces and nephews, Terry (Dana) Thatcher, Mike (Glenda) Thatcher, James (Sheri) Thatcher, Pat Thatcher, Lynn (Michael) Montgomery, Vickie (Chip) Thompson and Nathan Thatcher.
