Alta Darlene Brown

Darlene was born December 20, 1933, in El Dorado, Arkansas, where she grew up and married her childhood sweetheart, John Robert Brown, on Monday, October 6, 1952. Darlene and Bob moved several times in their marriage while he served in the United States Air Force and worked in the oil and gas industry, ultimately retiring in Richmond, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and had a fondness for the arts and classical music.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Trudy Bates; and son-in-law, Robert (Bob) Wright. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, John Robert Brown of Richmond, Texas; daughters: Kathey Wright, of Tomball, Texas; Marilyn Wilson, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and Susan Ottis (Harold), of Sugar Land, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The Brown family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Richmond Healthcare Center and the staff of Altus Hospice Services, who took great care of Darlene in the final months and days of her life.

Interment will be Friday, May 14, 2021, at 1:45PM, in Houston VA National Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Pastor Ron Smith will officiate. Only extended family member will attend.
