Ann Kathryn (Combs) Reynolds was born on August 9, 1944, in Charleston, WV to her parents Nina Mae (Payne) Combs and Earl Louis Combs. She was raised in a devout Christian household, her father being Deacon in Parsons Chapel Primitive Advent Christian Church. She graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School (Charleston, WV) and attended Morris Harvey College (now the University of Charleston).
In 1962, she married her beloved husband, the Rev. L. Dayton Reynolds and assisted in his ministry in churches in Illinois, West Virginia, and New York. She held many positions over these years in women’s ministry in the Advent Christian Church, New Covenant Fellowship and Elim Fellowship. She was determined at the same time to prioritize her ministry as wife and mother even as she fulfilled these roles in serving Christ’s kingdom. When her husband became General Overseer of Elim Fellowship, she traveled with him and blessed the people of God through ministry in the United States, Africa and India.
She was received into Orthodoxy with her husband in 2007, and became a blessing to Orthodox parishes in Virginia, California and Texas. She had a pivotal role in the formation of the Saint Constantine Schools in Houston, Texas.
Ann was, to all who knew her, a gracious lady, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and an anointed laborer in the Lord’s vineyard. Both her natural and spiritual children can testify to her wit, humor, keen intelligence and dialectical skill, curiosity and deep love for the truth, for people and for her God.
Ann passed away on May 11, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Phyllis Bush and her husband Robert Bush, Karen Brown and her husband Robert Brown, her brother James Combs, her brother-in-law William Hensley, and her sister-in-law Jeanne Harris and her husband the Rev. Charles Harris. She is survived by her sister Rose Hensley and her brother Robert Combs and his wife Carole. Reynolds III, Mary Kathryn Yniguez and her husband Solomon Yniguez, Ian C. A. Reynolds and his wife Emma Reynolds, and Jane V. A. Reynolds.
