It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Arturo Marquez Cruz, a resident of Katy, Texas, who left us too soon at the age of 63. Born in Tehuixtla, Mexico, Arturo was raised from humble beginnings that profoundly shaped the man he would become. Throughout his life's journey, he believed firmly in leading by example, always striving to be a role model, and a source of unwavering support to those around him.
Above all else, Arturo worked tirelessly to be the kind of son his parents, Humberto Marquez Aguilar and Antonia Cruz Pantaleon could be proud of. The values they instilled in him—hard work, humility, integrity, and compassion—remained the bedrock of his character throughout his lifetime.
Arturo’s life was defined by his dedication to others and his calling to service. He served his community in many meaningful ways: first as a schoolteacher, shaping and inspiring the minds of the next generation, and later as a town official, entrusted with preserving peace and order. Whether in public service or through his daily labor, he helped build and maintain the community he loved through consistency and dedication. In walking this path, Arturo’s warmth and loyalty allowed him to form many lifelong friendships that beautifully evolved until they were truly family.
Arturo is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Alicia Yolanda Aguilar. He leaves behind a proud legacy through his sons Aribey Jesus (Natalie) Aguilar, Oscar Daniel (Mylin) Zelaya, Arturo (Lauren) Marquez II, and six grandchildren. Arturo is also survived by his siblings Olivia Marquez, Juan Marquez, Rafael Marquez, and Araceli A. Marquez, alongside countless extended family members and friends who became true brothers and sisters. Arturo is preceded in death by his father Humberto Marquez Aguilar and mother Antonia Cruz Pantaleon. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
