

Born July 23, 1926 in Seattle, Washington, she attended Roosevelt High School and graduated a year earlier due to the commencement of WWII. She later moved to California where she met Deryl Nelson Howard and they married on September 18, 1946. They lived primarily in Houston, Texas until they retired in 1983 in Granite Shoals, Texas. They had been married 48 years when he passed away in 1995. She then moved back to Houston Texas and lived there until she became ill due to a fall on November 14, 2018 and she then lived with her daughter, Jo Ann Louise Jones.

Two of her three children, Deryl Nelson Howard, Jr. and wife Kathryn Storms Howard, and Jo Ann Louise Jones. Her third child, Carolyn Lou Bartos predeceased her on November 25, 2019 and survived by her hus-band Kenneth William Bartos.
Seven Grandchildren: Thomas Edwin Jones, Duke Nelson Holmes, Matt Holmes, Sherry Marie (Jones) Johnson and husband Clayton Joe Dean Johnson, Jeremy Patrick Howard and wife Tiffany Ann Howard; Natalie Christine Howard and husband Victor Alexander Zemansky, Carol Nelson Stonecipher and husband Todd Keller Stonecipher.
Eight Great Grandchildren: Noah Tillman Jones, Brayden Thomas Jones, Alexis Danae Howard, Braedon Kyle Howard, Kayla Jayme-Marie Jones, Brennan Scott Willer, Alexander Thomas Jones, and Gage Alexander Zemansky.
Four Great Great Grandchildren: Liam Forest-Joseph Corbello, Tobias Darol Jones, and Greyson Elijah Smart and Kinsley Faye Meyers.
Barbara’s mother, Clara (Cochran) Flowers and father, Homer Roscoe Flowers, predeceased her in death as well as her older brother, Ralph Flowers who was killed in WWII at the age of nineteen and her two sisters, Helen (Flowers) Stanford and Alma (Flowers) Shaffer also predeceased her in death.
Barbara will be remembered for her radiant and beautiful smile and the love she held for her children and all her grandchildren. She loved to play card games as well as other table games with her children and grandchildren. She also loved to travel in her 1998 Saturn. She always said that was the only vehicle that she ever owned in her own name and she was very proud of it. She also loved to cook and visit with friends and family.
Barbara will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
