Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Bernardino was a man who left a mark wherever he went—known for his unwavering dedication, craftsmanship, and deep love for his family. He built a life rooted in precision, compassion, and quiet strength.
After completing his education with the Colombian Air Force and Trade School, he pursued a career as a mainframe computer programmer. Though his work was technical, he brought to it the same attention to detail that earned him the family nickname: “Mr. Fix It.” Whether it was a computer system or a piece of furniture in need of repair, he approached every task with patience and a perfectionist’s touch.
His passions extended far beyond his professional life. A lifelong soccer enthusiast and avid woodworker, he was happiest when carving something new in his workshop or bringing a smile to his beloved wife, Elsa Consuelo Corredor Becerra, whom he married on December 24, 1965, in Bogotá. Their enduring love was a cornerstone of his life, and keeping her happy was always his proudest pursuit.
He was a devoted supporter of Children International and took great pride in being a long-time donor. His legacy of care and generosity lives on through the many lives he touched—both near and far.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernardino and Ana Berrio.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly six decades, Elsa C. Berrio; his children, Zoraya and Allan Stern, Yanett and James Marshall, and Andres and Heather Berrio. He was a proud grandfather to Nicholas Stern, Nathan Stern, Maia Stern, Marissa Stern, Brienne Heath, Ashley Moler, Austin Bentley, Mathew Marshall, Megan Brasher, Abigail Marshall, Brendan Berrio, Riley Berrio, William Berrio, and Daniel Berrio. He also adored his cherished grand-pets, Bullseye, Luna, and Hops.
His favorite color was navy blue—a quiet nod to the calm strength that defined him throughout his life.
