Betty Vaughan Maida was born in Houston, Texas July 5, 1928. She was a graduate of Jefferson Davis High School. Betty married the love of her life Cyril Francis (Frank) Maida November 14, 1947. Together they raised three sons and a daughter. Cyril and Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dancing, laughing, and hunting. Betty worked for many years as a sales manager at W.T. Grants and later at Craig’s Department Stores. Everyone that knew Betty knew her simply as Ma. She was the light of our family. She gave of herself endlessly and her love knew no bounds. Ma was an avid baseball fan who loved her Astros, but her favorite team was the boys of Twelve Baseball. She had so much pride in her family. She loved to travel to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren whether they were playing ball, lifting weights, or dancing. She was always there and was always their biggest fan. She set the bar high for grandmas.
Betty went to be with Our Lord on October 8, 2016. She was welcomed into paradise by her husband of 62 years, Cyril, her parents, Jasper Otis Vaughan and Evelyn Ruth Rodermel, and her sister Elaine Plumber. She leaves behind her children Johnie Maida and his wife Lynn, Frank Michael Maida and his wife Marilyn, Stephen Maida and his wife Mona, and her daughter Cynthia Wilhold. Betty is lovingly remembered by her brother John Otis Vaughan and her sister Lyndal Duckworth. She has 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren that she leaves with many beautiful memories to cherish and pass on through the generations. The family would like to thank many people that were special to Ma, but especially Ms. Dara Brown, her caregiver for the past four years.
