May 21, 1929 – October 1, 2020
Bridget Scanlon, age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2020. Bridget was born May 21, 1929 in Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan, Ireland to Patrick and Katherine Hughes.
At the age of 19, she decided to make the trip to America to start a better life for herself and her future family. When she came to America she met another Irishman, Matthew Scanlon. They fell in love and were married in May of 1954. They enjoyed going to dances and taking weekend trips with their family.
Bridget's interests were many, but you could always find her out walking or doing exercises at the YMCA. She would get coffee with her friends at the YMCA weekly, and she never met a stranger walking up and down the block or around the ponds. She also enjoyed cross stitching, hard candies, word search puzzles, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Matthew, Bridget is survived by her five children: Maureen (Eddie) Lavino, Tom (Terri) Scanlon, Pete (Terri) Scanlon, Kevin (Karen) Scanlon, Patty (Nick) Pagano; her ten grandchildren: Anthony Lavino, Kelli (Anthony) Monti, Timmy (Katie) Lavino, Courtney (Derek) Lyall, Katie (Rob) Pagan, Nikole Scanlon, Danielle Scanlon, Erin (Dave) Redding, Jessica Pagano, Matthew Pagano; and her six great grandchildren: Lila Monti, Tessa Monti, Robby Pagan, Jack Pagan, Grace Lyall, and Olivia Lavino.

Mrs. Scanlon was always warm and welcoming every time I visited the Scanlon home. She was clearly very strong and patient to have raised those 3 boys. Of course the 2 girls were easy in comparison. Praying for peace and comfort for the entire family.

Mrs. Scanlon was one of the fantastic Walton Lake Moms and I had the privilege to know her while growing up there!
I have a lot of happy memories especially with my good friends, Tom, Pete ,and Kevin!.
My thoughts are also with you Maureen and Patty and the entire Scanlon clan!
Your Mom is with your Dad now and I'm sure they are looking down on their family and are so happy and proud of you all.
I'll be thinking of you all on the 17th!
God Bless you all,
