Byron Garretson McNeil (70) went home to be with his Lord on December 29, 2018 in Katy, Texas. He was born on October 21, 1948 in Shreveport, LA to Bernard Byron McNeil and Jean Garretson McNeil who predeceased him as his beloved Grandmother, Gibba. Byron was a graduate of Fairpark High School and Centenary College with a B.S. degree in Geology. He was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He married Susan Pittman McNeil shortly after graduation and moved to Houston to start his career with Phillips Petroleum. A few years later he would form his own geology consulting business. Byron and Susan, who survives, were married for forty eight years and were blessed with two daughters, Melissa Ashcraft (Cheyney) of Katy and Emily Hanley (Greg) and Grandson Griffin Hanley of Spicewood who brought his "Pop Pop" much joy and laughter. Byron, a Civil War buff, had many interests, however fishing ranked #1 followed by music and Dr. Who.
