Carla Kay Frels, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Carla was born on November 3, 1958, in Houston, Texas, to Cleve and Shelley Farrell (Pennington). She was the eldest of five siblings. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Katy Community Fellowship. A reception will follow.
Carla was married to Jim Frels for 20 years. Together, they raised their two children, Carly and Matthew. Carla was then married to Robert Williams for almost 20 years, until he died in 2019. Carla spent the last years of her life in her home in Katy, Texas, in the loving care of Jerry Huffman, who survived her.
In her younger years, Carla worked in the apartment industry and was a successful leasing agent. Her sweet spirit was something her clients appreciated and admired. She was exceptionally talented in creating beautiful flower arrangements for family and friends. These arrangements adorned her beautifully decorated home. Carla, Jim, and family attended Airline Methodist Church, instilling a deep love for Jesus and the importance of prayer in both Carly and Matthew. She served in various teaching roles at Sweetwater Christian School, furthering her commitment to serving the Lord. Carla was a diligent prayer warrior through her trials as well as the suffering and joy of others.
Carla moved to Katy, Texas, and married Robert Williams, and they shared nearly 20 years of marriage until his passing in 2019. Robert faithfully loved her and her children as his own. Together, they attended Katy Community Church and devoted many hours writing notes of encouragement to those in need, always including scripture in the messages. Sending these and other cards was special to Carla, as it was a ministry to her, being able to celebrate and make people feel special. In addition to this, Carla and Robert enjoyed winery trips, beach vacations, and working together in the yard. Among her many volunteering adventures, she joyfully worked with Amazing Grace Hospice and The Carriage Inn, often calling Bingo for the residents. She also served on the Neighborhood Committee.
After Robert's passing, Carla was blessed by the companionship of Jerry Huffman. They had both lost their spouses and found the simple joys of life together for a few sweet years. Jerry will always treasure his time with Carla on their trips to the hill country.
Carla was well known for her undeniable spark, vibrance, and authenticity. She was truly unforgettable. Her greatest joy and achievement were her children. Her love for God and others will always be treasured memories to those who knew her. Carla leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service. Knowing Carla meant you knew she loved the Lord, and you could be certain “Angels would be with you.”
Carla's family would like to thank Dr. Sevie Pimentel, as his guidance and care over the past 25 years have been a blessing. Jerry Huffman, we thank you for the way you loved Carla and cared for her, especially in her final days. Thank you also to the Heart to Heart Hospice care team for your care and compassion.
