Carolyn Ann Cravens went to rest with the Lord on Monday, November 6, 2017. She was born in Houston, Texas to Mr. Miles T. & Irene Frame on February 22, 1934. Her Mama, Irene, was the center of her world throughout her life and it is no wonder that God called her home on her Mother’s birthday. She grew up with her two brothers, Billy and Doug and three sisters, Marguerite, Wilma and Betty Lou in Cottage Grove and attended Reagan High School where she was a Reagan Red Coat and usually the Belle of the Ball.
She married Roger Cravens in her early twenties and they had two daughters, Susan and Charlotte, who she adored with all her heart. After many years of marriage, Carolyn and Roger divorced; however always keeping Susan and Charlotte top priority. In the late 1970‘s Carolyn met and married Franklyn Gajewsky and expanded her family to love and include his children, Kyle, Melanie, Diana, Kenneth and Karen. Soon many grandchildren followed and they filled her heart with joy. The Sunday family dinners, Thanksgiving’s, Christmas’s and Easter’s were always centered around the grandchildren with Carolyn’s brand of magic. Carolyn and Frank drifted apart, but they remained close friends until his death in 2003.
Carolyn is survived by her sister, Betty Lou Ferguson and husband Austin, daughter Susan Bayne and husband Scott, daughter Charlotte Petzold and Harry Sturges, son Kyle Gajewsky, daughter Diana Nitsch and husband David, son Kenneth Gajewsky and wife Teresa, daughter Karen Leonhardt and husband Jeff. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren, Danny, Jamie, Melanie, Krista, Blake, Brett, Brooke, Michelle, Melissa, Johnathan, Jody, Kelsie, Justin, Kyle, Julia, Kaylee, Jackie, Jake and great grandchildren, Chloe, Kylie, Cadyn, Ashlyn, Landon, Gavin, Kane, Bryce, Tyler, RJ, Natalie, Haley, Tristen, Vincent, Hadley and Emmett.
Carolyn lived her life for the pleasure of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everyone that entered her house was at “home” and they were greeted with a big hug and of course a couple of pieces of candy for the children. She was a true Southern Lady with a voice that could soothe your tears and envelope you in her love and spirit. Her smile and laughter filled the room and her big brown eyes danced with joy. With a glass of Champagne, she became the dancing queen. Always and forever we will love, adore and be lost without her!
