Charleen Carlos, 61 of Katy, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. She was born on Thursday, July 30, 1959, to Frank and Stella (Hotard) DeRoche in Houma, Louisiana. After graduating high school, she married Warren Carlos, then relocated to Houston, Texas, to pursue a career in oil and gas. Upon moving to Houston in 1980, she made many close friends that became family to her.
Charleen’s tenacious personality led to her many fun adventures. Whether it was sky diving, deep water fishing, softball, gardening or hunting, she lived life to the fullest. More than anything, Charleen loved to cook for family and friends. She always liked to ‘pass a good time’ with the people she loved. The traditional Carlos Crawfish boil was something to look forward to each spring. Her hospitality and generous heart led to many special memories with her. She never met a stranger that wasn’t immediately taken by her warm, generous heart. Charleen had a unique way of making people feel loved and cherished.
Charleen was vivacious. The antics and good times with Charleen were never in short supply. From a young age, she loved to play pranks on others. From tricking her cousins to get on the wrong school bus after school, to putting a fake snake next to her sister’s car door before work one morning, she found humor in everything. She had a unique way of bringing laughter into everyone’s life.
There are many words to describe Charleen, but the most fitting word is passionate. She defended her beliefs with passion, she cared for her fur babies with passion, and most of all, she loved her family with passion. Charleen’s heart of gold will be missed by all who knew her.
"Nothing Gold Can Stay": by Robert Frost -
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
She is survived by her husband, Warren Carlos, her children, Bryan and David of Katy, Texas, mother Stella DeRoche of Bourg, LA. She is also survived by several siblings, sisters in-law, brothers in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was pre-deceased by her sister Gayle DeRoche and father Frank DeRoche.
A small gathering will be held to celebrate the life of Charleen at a date to be determined. Charleen’s Facebook page will remain open and all are welcome to post memories and photos of her.
