Charles Henry Fife went to be with The Lord on Friday, August 3, 2018. Charles was born in Natchez, Mississippi in 1938 to father Henry C. Fife, Jr., and mother Gladys Jones Fife. As a child, Charles moved often as his father worked in oil exploration. Charles was an excellent student. Although he was accepted into the first Air Force Academy class of 1956, Charles chose to join the Army. Stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso he served from 1956 to 1960. Upon honorable discharge, Charles transferred to the Army Reserves for 2 additional years of service. Charles married and had 5 sons. Charles worked in the financial services industry. Retiring in 1996, Charles was dedicated to his community. He served two terms as President of the AARP Katy, Chapter 2265. An avid bridge player, Charles was a patient and excellent bridge instructor at the Katy Fussell Senior Center for the past 6 years, developing many warm friendships. He changed lives as his introduction to bridge increased the sphere of friendship for many new bridge players. Additional hobbies included poker with the boys and country western dancing. Charles loved to cook, and a favorite recipe was his banana pudding. In 2015 Charles married Penelope, and together they hosted many fun get togethers with friends and family in their Katy home. He will be deeply missed and loved forever!
Charles is survived by his wife, Penelope, sons Charles and wife Candace, Ronald and wife Cynthia, Joe and wife Lupe, and Jim. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald and wife Gloria, as well as five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by both of his parents and his son, Steve.
