

Christine was born November 29th, 1972, in Anderson, Indiana to Charles and Nita Pickering. She grew up in Markleville, Indiana graduating from Pendleton Heights High School in 1991. Christine moved on to Ball State University where she graduated from in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. After marrying her husband John in July of 1995, she moved to Houston where she began her teaching career. The couple moved to Katy, Texas in 1998 and she remained there until her death. Christine was much beloved teacher in three area school districts during her career, Houston ISD, Alief ISD, and for the last 17 years in Katy ISD where she spent time at West Memorial Elementary, Wolfe Elementary, and Stephens Elementary. Besides being an extraordinary educator, Christine was also a master craftsman in the art of leathercraft. She won numerous first place ribbons at competitions as a member of the Central Indiana Leathercrafters guild. More than anything, Christine enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and dogs. She was often described as a friend to all.
Christine was preceded in death by her father Doug and her brother Mark. She leaves behind a devoted husband of 26 years, John, daughter Olivia, and son, John Christian. She is also survived by her mother, Nita, brothers Matthew (Trish) Pickering, Brian (Carrie) Pickering, sister Kathie (John) Buell and a host of nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is survived by special friends who became her “Texas” Family: David and Monica Bratcher, Lee and Leni Chatham, Robert and Sarah Sarnelli, Rodney and Beth Morrow, Angelica Garcia, Keifer and Jennifer Greenlief and Jenna Hill along with a multitude of other individuals who became special friends in her life.
She was the best wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and teacher anyone could ever hope for and will be missed dearly.
The Storms family would like to give a special thanks to the infusion nurses at Methodist West Hospital who made her chemotherapy bearable with their friendly, caring, and compassionate personalities. We would also like to recognize the staffs at both Stephens Elementary and Sundown Elementary for your unending support during Christine’s battle.
