Connie Lee Flemings

Connie was born on November 7, 1948, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Oscar Roberson, Sr. and Evelyn Haley Roberson. She accepted Christ at an early age at St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church. Connie attended Rosa A. Temple High School in Vicksburg, MS, and shortly after graduating, she enlisted in the United States Army Reserve while continuing her education at Alcorn State University. In the years that followed, Connie later converted to Catholicism and became a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Aunt Connie carried a quiet brilliance in her hands. From a young age she stitched beauty into the world, creating most of her own outfits with skill, patience, and a touch of grace. Sewing wasn’t just her hobby — it was her art, her joy, and one of the ways she expressed love to those around her.

Aunt Connie found joy in quiet moments, especially when she was curled up with a Harlequin book. Reading was her escape, her comfort, and one of the simple pleasures that colored her days with peace. She also enjoyed gardening and reading her daily devotion.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Oscar Roberson, four brothers: Oscar Roberson, Jr., James Roberson, David Robinson, and Ronnie Robinson, and four sisters, Faye Roberson, Florine Beacham, Dorothy Lambert, and Beatrice Carr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted son, Justin Sowell and daughter in love MaCoya; brother, Michael Roberson of Vicksburg, MS; sisters, Lena Roberson of Vicksburg, MS, Linda (Alfredo) Brown of Tallahassee, FL, Barbara (Willie) Wesley of Dallas, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family and friends
