Daniel Robert Dowdell, age 61, of Katy, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at his home. He was born August 5, 1964, in Conroe, Texas, the son of the late Barbara Ann Mize and William Dann Dowdell.
Daniel touched many lives with his sense of humor, tough love, and generosity. He would never let you know it, but he took quiet pride in helping and guiding others, whether it be at work or in his personal life, because, as he put it, “I may only have a middle school diploma, but I have a master’s in life.”
A true problem-solver and dedicated professional, Daniel devoted more than three decades to the Sweetwater Pools family. Through perseverance and an unwavering work ethic, he rose to become Vice President of Residential Services—a role that reflected both his leadership and his loyalty. To his colleagues and customers, he was more than a professional; he was a trusted mentor and friend.
Daniel is survived by his three sons, Timothy, Trent, and Christopher Dowdell; his sister, Robin Barker; his granddaughters, Bailey and Hazel Dowdell; his niece, Kacie Beasley; and his nephews, Joshua and Seth Barker.
When Daniel wasn’t working, he loved casting a line, playing Golden Tee, diving into World of Warcraft, or watching his favorite sports teams.
He will be deeply missed by his sons, family, friends, and the many colleagues whose lives he enriched over the years. Though he has gone from our sight, his humor and everlasting advice will live on in the countless lives he touched.
A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held at Katy Funeral Home (23350 Kingsland Blvd., Katy, TX 77494) on October 20, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
