Danny Woodward

Danny Woodward, 63, of Katy, Texas, passed away on December 2, 2025. Born on November 16, 1962, in Houston, Texas, Danny spent his childhood in Alief and Jersey Village, graduating from Jersey Village High School in 1978. He made his home in the Houston and Katy area throughout his life, surrounded by the people and places he loved most.

Danny was the kind of person who made friends wherever he went. He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Whether he was sharing a laugh, telling a story, or simply enjoying good company, his sense of humor and genuine kindness brought people together and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Some of his happiest moments were simple ones. Danny enjoyed firing up the grill, watching football or wrestling, relaxing with a few cold ones, and spending time with family and friends. He also had a special love for his dogs, caring for them with the same steady loyalty and affection that he showed to the people in his life.

Family was always at the heart of Danny's story. He was born to Ann Shaw and James Allen Woodward. After his mother married Ron Shaw, Ron became an important part of Danny's life. He grew up surrounded by a large family and shared lifelong bonds with his brothers, Jerry Woodward, David Woodward, Brian Shaw, Ronnie Shaw, and Shane Shaw, and his sisters, Sherrye Sims, Ellen Coaton, and Bridget McClendon.

On September 30, 1995, Danny married the love of his life, Leslie Woodward, in Katy, Texas. Together they built a life filled with love and laughter as they welcomed their two children, daughter Alex Woodward and son Hunter Woodward. Being a husband and father was one of the greatest joys of Danny's life, and he was proud of the family they created together.

Danny is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Woodward; his daughter, Alex Woodward; his son, Hunter Woodward and wife, Becca Woodward; his brothers, Jerry Woodward and wife, Kathy Woodward, David Woodward, and Brian Shaw and wife, Shawn Shaw, and Ronnie Shaw; his sisters, Sherrye Sims and husband, Steve Sims, Ellen Coaton and husband, Bevin Coaton, and Bridget McClendon; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Shaw; his fathers, Ron Shaw and James Allen Woodward; and his brother, Shane Shaw.

Danny will be remembered for his warm heart, easy smile, generous spirit, and the way he made everyone feel like a friend. He was also, in Leslie's eyes, a true "Dancing Queen," never missing an opportunity to dance, have fun, and make those around him smile. Danny would often joke about the aspirations of being a dancer, and those aspirations made Leslie laugh, becoming some of the many cherished moments they shared together. His love for his family, his appreciation for life's simple pleasures, and the countless memories he created with those around him will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
