

David Yi was born in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, where he spent his early years surrounded by family and community. In 1987, he moved to Houston, Texas, beginning a life defined by hard work, dedication, and deep love for his family.
David completed part of his high school education and began his working life in South Korea, where he was employed by an automotive company involved in car manufacturing. After relocating to Texas, he and his wife, Donna Ok Yi, built a life together rooted in perseverance and partnership, opening and operating a small clothing and shoe business that served their local community.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, David found his greatest joy in time spent with his family. He especially cherished moments with his grandchildren, whether fishing with them or simply enjoying their company. Golf was his lifelong passion, and he spent countless hours on the course with close friends. Widely recognized as one of the best golfers in Houston’s Korean community, David earned numerous trophies from local tournaments and was admired for both his skill and sportsmanship.
David was known for his steady presence, his competitive spirit on the golf course, and his fondness for the color green, a reflection of both his favorite pastime and his outlook on life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Yi; his eldest son, Steve Yi; and his youngest son, Adam Yi, who will continue to honor his memory and carry forward the values he instilled in them.
David Yi will be remembered for his devotion to family, his entrepreneurial spirit, and the lasting friendships he formed on and off the golf course. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched.
A visitation will be held on January 12, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Katy Funeral Home, located at 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX, 77494, United States.
The funeral service will follow at the same venue from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
