Dianne Hodge Cooner, 85, passed away on September 9, 2026. A beloved mother, wife, sister, Nana, great-grandmother, educator, and woman of deep Christian faith, Dianne will be remembered for her strength, leadership, humor, and devotion to her family.
Born June 5, 1941, to Pat Earl Hodge and Ada Faye Robbins Hodge, Dianne graduated from Southern Methodist University and devoted more than 30 years to education as a teacher and high school counselor. She spent much of her career at Brazoswood High School, where she eventually became Chairman of the Counselors and was affectionately known as the “Queen of TAAS.”
Dianne shared 36 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Bill Cooner. Together they enjoyed fishing, camping, church, and spending time with their family. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she sang in the choir and served in numerous church ministries throughout the years.
Known affectionately by her family as “The General,” Dianne was a natural leader with a take-charge spirit and a big heart. She especially treasured being Nana and the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Dianne is survived by her children, Patrick “Rick” Covington (Tami) and Robyn D’Agnolo (Jayme); stepdaughters, Carol Vardeman (Terry) and Cathy Obermeier (Jim); sister, Cecelia Mae “Teya” Hodge Green; grandchildren, Amanda Landry (Derrick), Ross Obermeier, Allyson D’Agnolo, Patrick Covington Jr., and Grayce D’Agnolo; and great-granddaughter, Sage Landry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Cooner, and her parents.
