

Dom was born on March 21st, 1942 in Plainfield, NJ. On Thanksgiving day, November 23, 1967, he married Marie Perone in Elizabeth, NJ. Dom and Marie moved to Texas in 1981 after living the in Elizabeth and Middletown NJ. They also kept a residence in Pirates beach, Galveston, TX since 1998, where they and their family have had many fun times. Dom retired from Dow Chemical as a project manager and computer systems analysis, in 2005 after a long and successful career. His work afforded him many travel opportunities around the world.
Dom went to elementary school in Plainfield, NJ, attended Scotch Plains high school and graduated from Seton Hall University with a BA in accounting. Dominick was a US Navy veteran, a fact of which he was very proud. He received an honorable discharge in 1964 after experiencing many critical situations including the Cuban crisis.
Dom enjoyed time with his family and many friends here in Texas as well as in New Jersey, Florida and Louisiana.
He loved playing golf at Cinco Ranch with the men's league as well as at many other golf courses in the states and Islands. He was thrilled to get a hole-in-one while golfing in Florida.
Dom was an active member of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic church where he worked Bingo and was an usher for over 40 years.He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and spent many volunteer hours working the Fish Fry and the BBQ where he had a good time sampling all the choices.
Dom was an excellent dancer, a skill that he picked up from his family at their many dinner dances, especially at the Italian American Club. You could always hear him complaining to Marie that "He was supposed to lead". Dom was especially known for his excellent sense of humor and being the life of any party. He enjoyed being a handyman around both of his homes. He tackled most jobs by always purchasing 2 or 3 extra tools or parts and declaring "You never know when might need it!" Dom loved to play cards with friends and family and to place an occasional bet in a friendly poker game with the guys, or on a cruise ship or a trip to Vegas.
Although Dom enjoyed taking many long trips with family and friends to Europe, Africa, Alaska, Hawaii and other states, his recent illness had put a halt to these excursions. He will be greatly missed by his wife Marie, of 57 years, his 2 sons DJ (Dominick John) and Jon (Jonathan Anthony) , his daughter-in-law, Lisa Mormile, his grandchildren, Nicholas Mormile, Kaylee Mormile, Matthew Mormile and Brice Mormile, his brother, John P. Straniero and wife Terri and by countless nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Mother Mini (Dominique) Straniero and step Father John Straniero and father Dominick Mormile.
A mass will be held at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, 1530 Norwalk Dr, Katy TX, on Tuesday, June 24 at 11 am with a reception following in the Church Hall. All are welcomed.
Interment will be Wednesday, June 25 at at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy freeway, Houston TX, 77079.
Flowers will be accepted at Katy Funeral home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy TX 77494 and brought to the church.
Donations can be made online to the Houston Area Parkinson Society or to the Houston Diabetic Association in memory of Dominick who fought a courageous battle.
