Dorothy Frazee, 90, passed away peacefully May 8, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and her parents Dorothy and Morrison Thomas. She is survived by her four children, Dee Rivers, Charlotte Albright, Tom Frazee, and Richard Frazee, along with their spouses and eleven grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 29, 1928 and grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and Grenada, Mississippi as a child. She later attended the University of Georgia and joined Pi Beta Phi. After school she served the country as an Army secretary in WWII. She married her life’s love in August of 1948 and raised four children living in seven different states and finally settling in Houston, Texas in 1969. Her Christian faith was very important to her. She was baptized as a teen at East Lake Methodist Church in Birmingham, Ala. (where she was later married). She remained active in the church her entire life, teaching Sunday School and later, after moving to Katy, became a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church. She was very fond of music and enjoyed singing in the choir of all the churches where she lived. Another one of her passions was art, and she had a great talent for pen and ink landscapes as well as traditional oil paintings. Finally, she was an avid bridge player, and loved playing with her friends.
Dorothy had a huge heart for volunteering, starting with the school organizations and booster clubs of her children, and through college as a president of the Houston Aggie Mom’s Club. She served many years in many organizations including American Red Cross, Search Foundation, VA Hospital, International Seaman’s Center, Women’s Shelter Seamstress, Memorial Assistance Ministries, National Republican Committee, Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service, Taping for the Blind, End Hunger Network, Sherwood Elementary Library, and Carriage Inn Resident’s Council.
After living “22 ½ “ giving years (Leap Year Baby) Dorothy is now at peace with our Lord. She was a wonderful mother, good friend to all she knew, and will be greatly missed by everyone. Her request in lieu of flowers is for donations to New Hope Presbyterian Church, 1350 N. Mason Road, Katy, TX 77449 or the American Red Cross.
