Dorothy Mae Talley Autry lived a full, energized life of 92 years. She was spunky and a true class act. Sadly, October 20th, 2020 she rested peacefully at her home in Katy, TX with her daughter Renita by her side.
Dorothy grew up in the south. Battling through segregation, she had to take a long bus to ride, passing five schools , just to get to her “colored only” school. She rose above her adversity and expectations by becoming a proud military wife and mother of five. She went on to further her education and retire from the state of NJ after 30 years of service. Dorothy was known for having a green thumb. She kept a beautiful lawn. In her later years, she enjoyed spending her time traveling the world and collecting memorabilia.
Dorothy was the youngest of five children and she is preceded in death by her mother Theodia Talley (King) and father Jesse Talley. All of her siblings, Jaunita MacMurray (Wynn), Walter Wynn, Lawrence Wynn,and Albert Wynn. Dorothy had five children and is preceded in death by her oldest daughter Glenda Autry. She is survived by Henry Autry (Cheryl Autry), Corlis Autry, Theodore Autry, and Renita Autry-Morgan. She leaves to mourn her beloved grandchildren Julie Autry-Gates (David Gates), Adrian Autry (Amy Autry), David Woods, Thea Autry, Dorian Autry Tucker (Sharif Tucker), and Noah. And her loving great grandchildren Jordan, Justin, Darrian, Avery, and Ashton. And a host of nieces and nephews.
Dorothy brought a light to all that were blessed with her presence. She truly be missed by all who knew her.
