Dorothy Hunewill, was born on July 21, 1923 in Carmel, Maine to Harold and Mary Leonard. She is survived by her three children, Richard (Christine) Hunewill of New Hampton, NH, Carol Hunewill of Katy, TX and Jack (Madeline) Hunewill of Natick, MA. She was the beloved grandmother of John (Meredith) Hunewill, Sarah (Scott) Hunewill, Rachel (Thiago) DosSantos and Olivia Hunewill as well as her seven great grandchildren, Molly, Harper, Kemp, Madison, Adrian, Miles, and Quincy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Flossy and brother-in-law Buddy. Dot was raised in Malden, Massachusetts during the depression era. Her dream of going to college to be a clothing designer was postponed during the Second World War and she entered the workforce instead. Shortly thereafter, she was married and focused on raising her three children. Dorothy also worked at Wonder Bread in Natick, Massachusetts for many years before retiring to Ft. Myers, Florida where she fulfilled a lifelong dream of retiring to the sunshine and sandy beaches of Florida. She developed many friendships in the Jamaica Bay and Lexington Country Club communities where she lived. She joined in social circles that allowed her to travel to places like Hawaii, Panama and on various cruises. In between her travels, she enjoyed frequent visits from her children and grandchildren where she would take them to Ft. Myers Beach and Naples. In her later years, Dot moved to Katy, Texas to live with her daughter.
Dot’s wishes were to be cremated. Per the wishes of the family, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Dot’s name.
