Doug, I sure do miss knowing you were not that far away.  
When you came to Victoria to visit you were generous with your time. You took Steve and me for walks along the top of the breakwater in Victoria in bitter winter weather and never balked at going. You shared with us a love of rock music. I remember sitting in your room while you played guitar and Steve and me singing Boney Maroney or Have Nagila.
I am happy to have been the little sister with whom you could practice some of the things you passed along to Sam and Tonya, and then your grand kids. None of us will ever forget The Claw or Rumoli.

As days go on I miss you more and more. I have no words to describe the love felt for you. It hurts to lose you but you will never be forgotten. You will remain with us through memories and stories, but you're memory will never be forgotten. We love you so much and I miss you grandad.

I am so glad you went to Minneapolis with me and i know you will always be at every game. You saying no to cats but always loving them as soon as you saw one and them coming straight to you. You always saying one day you will get the push-up handstand will still be true.

I miss you every day. My heart hurts - wanting to hug you one last time. You have been the best father I could ever hope for. You made our family first - always top priority. You showed me what it is like to love unconditionally. You constantly modeled what it means to do anything and everything for the ones you love.  You taught me how to change a tire and drive a stick-shift - I had to be able to do both before I could get my license. This is such an example of you making sure I could take care of myself. I've always remembered that lesson - it has stuck with me over the years. You weren't teaching me to change a tire, you were teaching me how to take care of myself when something goes wrong. I owe so much of who I am to you. Even though you are no longer here, you and everything you taught me will forever be in my heart.

I was always honored to call you Dad. You taught me how to BBQ and how to do many home projects around the house and in the yard. But the biggest lesson you taught me was how to be a great dad to your duaghters and granddad to your grandchildren.  I saw the impact you had with Tonya and my girls with you always being there when they needed you. I hope I always live up to those high expectations you demonstrated every day. You will be missed. I love you Dad.

Dad, I wanted to come up with one memory to share that showed how much you mean to me, but there isn't just one.  You have given me the gift of immeasurable love--from remembering holding your pinky finger as we walked across the street because my hand wasn't big enough to hold your whole hand, to special volleyball handshakes. The memories of you coming to sporting events straight from getting home, working on hanging a fence together, throwing the football back and forth, you playing volleyball at my parent night in high school, dancing at my wedding, playing with the girls, watching movies together and doing the "wave", sharing favorite songs and movies, inside jokes, and sitting and talking about work, family, travel...so very much you gave to me--Thank you!  I miss you everyday.  I love you Dad.

The first time I called you Grandaddy, I was in a fit of giggles as you looked at me and responded with a gruff Kate! From then on that's all I could call you. I loved your reaction, attention, and (not always obvious) affection when you would reply with the special name only you were allowed to call me. As I got older, your reply and my absolute adoration for our special names never wavered. I could count on you to make me giggle just like the first time so many years ago. I will never stop loving my Grandaddy and I know you will always be with your Kate.

I am so grateful to have had the time with you that I did. You were at every one of my volleyball games from the fourth grade to my junior year in high school. I will never forget the time you took me to Dallas for a tournament and we sat in the lobby and I tried to explain why Starbucks is so good they can charge an insane price for just coffee. I will miss you showing me new movies and old music and quizzing me on classic rock (even though I didn't know much). I always pictured you sitting in the front row of my wedding with grandma and mom and dad. I'll make sure to save you a seat. I love you Grandad.

Lots of great memories with you all. So many volleyball and soccer games, sleepovers, and kitchen raids (best snacks ever)! Sam, I can remember your dad's sense of humor and stern looks. Always sitting there in the chair with Jafa (aka Cujo) by his side. Todd remembers your dad at your wedding. Of course Todd was the last one in the church after getting Jeff there a tiny bit late to rehearsal. He told him Don't be late tomorrow. Todd thoughts...he didn't even say Hi.  Unfortunately, with all of our moving we didn't get to see your parents much after that, but I've always carried such fond memories of the Robertson family with me. Love and prayers to all of you.

I had the good fortune to work with Doug for several years. He was a good friend and valued colleague. Though irreplaceable at work, his dedication to his family and pride as a grandparent were never far from the surface. I am glad to have known him and was deeply saddened to learn of his passing.


There are not words to describe how much you have always meant to me. You are the love of my life, my best friend, husband, devoted father and grandfather. You made my life so beautiful. Your care, concern and love showed through everything you did. The memories we made together will live with me forever and I will always hold you in my heart as I know you will do as well. Until we meet again, all my love.

I was very saddened when I heard about Doug's sudden passing.  I worked with Doug for over 15 years.  During that time we had worked many, many projects together.  I knew Doug to be a kind hearted spirit who always treated others with care, good intention, and respect, and, in turn, it seemed he was loved and respected by everyone.    Doug was a good man and we will miss him.

Please accept our condolences for the loss of Doug.    It has been many years since we saw Doug, but have fond memories of him from when we were all kids and growing up.   His bright red hair is one of the things I remember most along with a good sense of humor.  He was far too young, and we know his family will be missing him greatly.

Our first memories of Doug are from 46 years ago...he was really into the hard rock music and enjoyed playing tennis and hockey with the guys.  Then 23 years ago when we visited Houston, Doug was the best host....showing us all the great tourist spots..taking 
Tara and I to SanAntonio which we will always remember and then again 20 years ago when we visited for Tonya's wedding.  We always enjoyed visiting with him and will definitely miss him going forward. He was an awesome family man.  Love to all of you.

We are very sorry to hear of Uncle Doug's passing.  
I'll always remember him as the uncle that gave a young kid a break from the twang my parents listened to, by letting me play his "Rockin Roll" records. 
He was always willing to not only open his home to us, but would take the time to chauffeur us all over the Houston area as well. 
We will miss him and will keep his family in our prayers.

d a sense of humor - I remember years ago a story - Doug was taking pictures everyday of a stuffed animal doing different things (mowing the yard, watching tv, doing dishes, etc) and sending the pictures to grandkids.
