Edith LaVirge McRae

Edith LaVirge McRae born May 7, 1932 passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Maxwell McRae and daughter, Terri Lorraine McRae. Edith (Virgie) is survived by her daughters, Patti Brooks and husband, Al and Corri Tabone and husband Rick; grandchildren, Hillary Barra and husband, Kevin, Tyler Brooks, and Emily Gibson; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Micah and Jesse Barra. In addition to being a devoted mother and loving wife, Virgie also loved her two kitties, Augustus and Cleopatra dearly. She was an avid birder and spent many hours at the beach or on the ocean. Her other loves were gardening and genealogy. She had a kind sweet generous spirit and will be missed by many. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd. in Katy. A family graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, 1015 Antione in Houston followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 20775 Kingsland Blvd. in Katy with Rev. Scott Rawlings officiating. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite animal charity.
