OBITUARY

Evander Marvin Ammons II

December 17, 1946April 19, 2021

Evander Marvin Ammons, age 74, passed away from a rare autoimmune condition on Monday April 19, 2021 at Memorial Hermann hospital, where he received excellent care and attention at the Medical ICU ward. He was born on December 17 1946 in Houston, Texas and was a proud native of the Lonestar State. Preceded in death by his father E. Marvin Ammons and mother Frances Osenbaugh Ammons, and survived by wife Naomi.

Van graduated Memorial High School in 1965 and went on to study business for his undergraduate degree at Stephen F. Austin, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He then went to graduate school in Washington to study insurance. After school he went to work for his family insurance company and took over in 1973 when his father unexpectedly passed away. He sold the company in the mid 80's and became an entrepreneur and continued being in the insurance agency business for several years.

Van was blessed to have many friends old and new, through his love of sports, fast cars, political debate, dogs and his own unique, strong opinions. His keen sense of humor, love of telling stories and meeting new people was evident every day. He would often comment that life has been good to him. He will missed for being a character, with character and his gift of living life in the present.

The memorial service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday May 4 20201 at Katy Funeral Home and in memoriam, please send donations to Red Collar Rescue www.redcollar.org to honor Van’s love of animals.
