Frances Lee Bradford, nee Thomasson, “Grandmom” to many, passed away in her home on January 28, 2023, at the age of 79. A Texas native and lifetime resident, she was born to Myrtle and Albert Thomasson in 1943.
To say Frances was hard working is an understatement: working from the age of 10 in her family’s diner, through her retirement at age 68, Frances overcame tough circumstances. With just a high school diploma and two young children, she worked her way up to General Manager of a door manufacturing business. She was a dedicated mom, a loving wife to her husband Brad for almost 40 years, and a fiercely loyal grandmother and friend, who always went above and beyond to help her loved ones.
In today’s world, Frances was a renaissance woman. She was an avid fiction reader, expert seamstress, weekly crossword champ, traveled across the US winning billiards competitions with her ladies’ group, the Cuetees, and could answer any Jeopardy question before the contestants. The list goes on, but no matter what she was doing, she was as cool as the diet coke on ice in her mason jar. Intelligent, sharp witted, stubborn, and resilient, Frances was true to herself, and her family loved her for her honest advice.
She will be forever missed by her husband Brad Bradford; her daughter Leanne Bott Hegyesi and husband Ron; her son Steve Bott and wife Ulla; her six grandchildren Nick, Kathleen and husband, Daniel, Tyler, Emilie, Dylan and Hanna; her stepdaughter Brandy Diamond and husband Don; her stepson Matt Bradford and wife Nicole; and five step grandchildren Danielle, Destiny, Adallis, Charlotte and Noah. She leaves behind her brother, AJ Thomasson, many other family and dear friends, and her grand-dog and TV companion Vinni.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd., Katy, TX 77384. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Frances’s name to the American Heart Association.
