Date of Birth: May 6, 1934
Date of Death: April 1, 2026
Francisca Maria de Jesus was born on May 6, 1934, in a small farm community of Resplendor, Minas Gerais, Brazil. On April 1st, 2026, she passed peacefully in her bed and was surrounded by her dear family.
“Francis” was married to her dear husband, Jose Philipe, of nearly 60 years. He passed in 2019.
Together, they shared a life together raising their precious daughter, Sara. Sara was born in the Washington D.C. area. Sara spent her childhood swimming in the Chesapeake Bay catching blue crabs and fishing with her parents. They created a life filled with laughter, fun travelling, delicious food and the warmth of a close-knit trio.
Francis found joy in her life by crocheting, cooking, playing Bingo, and giving plenty of warm and loving kisses and hugs.
Francis was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jose Philipe, her parents Francisco da Costa and Raymunda Maria de Jesus, and all 10 of her older brothers and sisters.
She leaves behind her 2 daughters, Rosangela and Sara and husband Abraham.
She was a loving grandmother known as “vovo”, Portuguese for grandma, to 7 grandchildren- Fernanda, Julio Cesar, Gavin, Alyssa, and her youngest, 15-year-old Chloe in addition to her two granddaughters of heart, Chelsea and Britney. She was very loved by all and loved all of them very dearly.
Francis, lovingly known by her son-in-law Abraham as his “Angel without wings” will always be remembered by her sweet smile, loving ways, contagious laughs and funny ways. She was always joking and passed on April Fool’s Day. Her kindness, loving everyone, daily hugs and kisses will be truly missed.
A typical day for her was making everyone’s bed. Cleaning the house for her family without being asked. Consistently wanted to help around the house whether it was preparing food or cleaning. She enjoyed playing the lottery. She enjoyed going for walks through the neighborhood or parks. Her favorite dish to make was her infamous flan. She enjoyed wearing her accessories that spoke to her and paired it with just the right outfit and always called it chic. She spent her time watching soap operas and loved Elvis. She also found joy in collecting currency from all over the world. She had an extensive collection of stamps. However, her passion was crocheting and sewing. She made lots of blankets for the family and loved ones.
We will always miss and love her forever.
