Fred was born on August 22, 1942, in South Houston, to Rose and Fredric Peterson Sr. His doting father shared his love of fishing and building with young Fred. They spent much time enjoying fishing expeditions in the Gulf of Mexico and Galveston Bay. As he grew older, Fred’s adventurous side grew leading him to his passion for hunting, fast cars, and riding motorcycles.
Fred began working at Vector Schlumberger at a very young age and eventually became a mechanical engineer. He was highly regarded by his coworkers as someone who could fix anything. After 45 years of dedicated employment to Schlumberger, Fred retired in 1999.
Fred was happiest when he was in the great outdoors. He developed many lifelong friendships on deer hunting trips across Texas. He even ventured into Mexico in search of Muy Grande. His oldest sons share his passion for hunting and often accompanied him on his hunting expeditions. He also loved traveling with his wife and gambling with her in the Louisiana casinos as well as helping all his kids with building and repair projects.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Jeanette Appleton and spouse, Weldon; brothers, Wayne and David Peterson; wife, JoAnn Peterson; sons: Richard, Allen, and Derek Peterson and their spouses, Dana, Diana, and Heather; daughters, Kristen Albrecht and Kaylen Janecek and their spouses, Gary and Jay; 7 grandchildren: Nick Peterson and wife, Kelsy; Nathan Peterson, Austin Albrecht, Olivia Peterson, Caroline Janecek, Amanda Janecek, and Zachary Peterson; one great granddaughter, Kennedy Peterson; as well as many cousins.
We will not soon forget Fred’s booming voice and his roaring laughter. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
