George Black was born January 1, 1947, in Houston, Texas to Clarence and Jane Black. He graduated from Spring Woods Sr. High School in 1965 and then attended South Texas Junior College. In February 1970, George married Shela Kay Lamberth with whom he just celebrated 51 years of marriage. After marriage, George was enlisted in the Army National Guard. He was a reserve paratrooper from 1971-1976. George worked for several large fabrication companies before retiring in 2018.
George was a man who loved life and family to the fullest. His interests were many including hunting, fishing, and camping with the family, operating his ham radios, playing guitar and other instruments, and flying drones with his grandson. He attended cheer and dance competitions for his three granddaughters as often as possible. Some of our treasured memories are of him baking pies for the holidays, carving pumpkins, and dying Easter eggs with his grandkids, and finding the celebrations in each and every day. He was a devoted man attending St. Andrew Lutheran Church his whole life. George participated in many aspects of church, but his greatest joy was being able to attend with his mother and family over the years.
George was preceded in death by his father, Clarence O. Black. He leaves behind his mother, Jane Black; wife Shela Black; daughters Kimberly Gunter married to Steve Gunter and Kelly Alderman married to Cameron Alderman; sisters Carol Gould married to Don Gould and Lynn Goodrum married to Greg Goodrum; and brother Larry Black married to Shelly Black and many other beloved family and friends.
